Hurricane Irma Announcement #2:
While it is undetermined if Irma will impact our area, we still want our residents in the Town of Nichols and surroundings areas to be prepared. In the event that our area is evacuated Marion High School will be used as a shelter. If you have any questions please contact the Nichols Town Hall.

Hurricane Irma Announcement #3:
The American Red Cross has provided a Hurricane Safety Checklist to assist in the preparation of Hurricane Irma. While the path of Irma is still undetermined, we ask everyone to begin preparing for the hurricane in the event that our area is impacted. The checklist has been posted on our Facebook page and copies of this checklist will be available at Nichols Town Hall.

Hurricane Irma Announcement #4:
– Irma’s path and impact to our area is still to-be-determined, however, we are asking that everyone secure their trash cans, either by tying them down or placing them in your utility building, after the Friday morning trash pickup. We also ask that everyone secure anything in or around your yard that could be removed or damaged by strong winds.
– While we do not know if or how bad Irma will impact our area, we ask that everyone begin preparing! The Red Cross Hurricane Check List is available at the Nichols Town Hall! PREPARATION IS VERY IMPORTANT!

We continue to monitor Irma as well as communicating with local and State agencies. We will continue to update our Facebook page as we receive more information!

Hurricane Irma Announcement #5:
Due to Irma’s current path there are no plans to open shelters in Marion County at this time. We ask that you keep an eye on Irma as her path could change at any moment. It is best to be prepared for the worst while hoping for the best. We will continue to update our website and Facebook page as more information becomes available.
